Reimann Standard follows drawings in a booklet guide for letterings and typography compiled by type teacher Ernst Reimann. The so-called »Großer Schrift Atlas« includes the most common type classifications and organizes them in a simple and comprehensible way. These font models – perhaps archetypes – from 1969 (Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt) were used by typesetters, graphic designers and sign painters for orientation and the construction of an alphabet.
In order to draw a properly running and functional body text typeface from the rough visual material for teaching, some raw moments were removed from Reimanns drafts during the digital translation. The proportions of the widths and heights were also adjusted so that the letters fit comfortably into a text image instead of standing out on their own.
